At SYNC, we believe that following Jesus means loving our neighbors in real, practical ways. That’s why we are so thankful for our partnership with Loaves & Fishes, also known as The Church Without Walls, a faithful, boots-on-the-ground ministry serving people in need right here in the Reno–Sparks area.
Who is Loaves & Fishes?
Loaves & Fishes is a Christian outreach ministry that meets outdoors year-round at Barbara Bennett Park in downtown Reno. Their mission is simple: share the love of Jesus, offer prayer and encouragement, and make sure people who are struggling don’t go hungry or feel forgotten.
Here’s what they do:
- Hold weekly outdoor services with prayer, worship, and teaching
- Serve hot meals and provide groceries to anyone in need
- Deliver groceries to qualifying low-income households within their delivery radius
- Partner with local apartment communities and churches to reach more people
- Host special events like an annual winter coat drive and holiday meals so families can stay warm, fed, and encouraged
Everything is done in Jesus’ name and with a warm, welcoming spirit. People are seen, known, prayed for, and reminded that God cares for them.
How SYNC Is Involved
Many of our SYNC ladies volunteer regularly with Loaves & Fishes. It’s not about having special skills. It’s about showing up, being willing, and letting God use you to love others. If you are part of SYNC and have been praying about where you can serve, we’d love for you to consider joining the team at Loaves & Fishes. This is a wonderful opportunity to:
- Step out of your comfort zone in a safe, supportive environment
- Share Christ’s love in a hands-on, down-to-earth way
- Grow spiritually as you serve
- Build deeper friendships with other Christians while serving side by side.
We are truly grateful for our friends at Loaves & Fishes and the way they faithfully love our community. As SYNC continues to “seek our niche in Christ,” partnering with ministries like Loaves & Fishes is one of the ways we live out our calling.
Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to our Reno–Sparks neighbors, one meal, one coat, one conversation, and one prayer at a time.
