Unfortunately the Snowshoeing event scheduled for Tuesday, March 21st has been cancelled.
Pam Korgan will be leading two fun snowshoeing excursions this February and March. Snowshoeing is a beginner friendly activity – if you can walk, you can snowshoe! We have several sets of extra snowshoes for those who need gear. Cell service is available in the areas where we will be snowshoeing. Please don’t put yourself in a time crunch, having to be back by a certain time.
What to Wear and Bring
You’ll want to dress in layers and apply sunscreen. Be sure to bring a snack and some water to drink.
Where to meet
For both events, we will be meeting in the south west part of the parking lot of Starbucks on Wedge Parkway (18250 Wedge Pkwy, Reno, NV 89511). We will be leaving by 1:00 pm, so come early if you’d like to carpool.

February Event – Tuesday, February 21 at 1:00 pm
On Tuesday, February 21st, we will snowshoe the Jones Creek Loop out of the upper parking lot at Galena Creek Park – it is a 1 ½ mile undulating loop.
March Event – Tue March 21st
On Tuesday, March 21st, we will travel to “Chickadee Ridge” from the south side of Mt Rose HWY off the Incline side of the meadow.
This is a climb up (351 ft elevation gain), then descent down, 2.1 miles trek. Bring a Ziploc Snack Bag with birdseed. The chickadees love to eat out of your hand!
