On Thursday, July 18 the SYNC Nifty Needles Quilting group got together to work on quilts for those in need. Together, we completed an impressive total of 29 quilts!
A heartwarming moment occurred during the meeting when one of our members, a foster mom received a phone call with the news that she would be welcoming a three-week-old baby boy as a foster child. To help her prepare, our group gifted her a beautiful quilt to snuggle the new baby.
The remaining 28 quilts will be divided between the Fallon and Reno Real Choices Women’s Centers and Children’s Cabinet.
Our Nifty Needles group was featured in the June issue of the Dress a Girl Newsletter for our donation of $80 to purchase a sewing machine for a woman in Uganda. At the meeting we were delighted to receive another $80 donation that will purchase a second sewing machine to benefit another women in Uganda.
If you enjoy sewing and/or quilting or would like to learn plan to attend one of our meetings. Our gatherings are not just about quilting but also about supporting each other and making a difference in the lives of others. We look forward to seeing you at our next get together!
